Join us at Jamberoo Pub on Thursday 15 October for a special book
luncheon with Balmain Tigers and Australian rugby league legend Garry
Jack, alongside sports journalist and co-author Adam Hawse.
Garry Jack was one of the outstanding fullbacks of his generation – a
Balmain favourite, NSW State of Origin representative and Australian
Kangaroo who played 244 first-grade games and represented his country
21 times.
Now, in Jumping Jack: The Garry Jack Story, he tells the story of the
remarkable career behind one of rugby league’s most familiar names.
Written with respected sports journalist Adam Hawse, Jumping
Jack goes well beyond the match reports and statistics. Garry reflects on
growing up in Wollongong, his path to first grade, the great Balmain sides
of the 1980s, State of Origin and Test football, the characters he played
with and against, and the highs and lows of life at the top of the game.
Over lunch, Garry and Adam will share stories from the book and from a
golden era of rugby league, followed by an opportunity for questions from
the audience.
Whether you’re a lifelong league fan, remember those great Tigers
teams, or simply enjoy a terrific sporting story, this promises to be a
hugely entertaining afternoon.
